Kittens born 12:15 am

Filed under: Personal Chatter, Animal Mania, Kittens! — Leann Pass at 4:43 pm on Wednesday, March 8, 2006

Well, Diva had her babies! It took around 2 hours, of course we were there with camera in hand. She did great - took care of them very well throughout. She had 4 but lost 1 =(. But, that leaves us 3 itty bitty kittens and a very happy Mama Kitty that is purring up a storm.

I have tons of photos from the birth - but they are sooooo graphic that I refrained from putting them out here (you’re welcome).

In these pictures, the kittens are about 12 HOURS old. Really they aren’t very cute when they are this young. They look like little mice! I am eagar to see how they change and turn into little cutie pies over the next few weeks =)

Mike held up each kitten so I could get pictures.  Diva didn’t like it at all. She got really ansy so I tried to be quick, which is why I only got one shot of 1 of them. Maggie didn’t like it either - she is very protective, too funny.

They are about 14 HOURS old here:

I’ll be posting updated pictures over the next few weeks - FUN!
We’re thinking of names for them. Hmmmm, nothing good yet. If you have any ideas, post them!  I know I’ll at least see something from Gin, Chris and David, right?

Kittens!

Looks like our little Diva is ready to explode with her litter of kittens. She is showing all the tell-tale signs of “maybe tonight” so we are keeping the camera close by. Exciting!

Now, it’s not that we need a litter of kittens - surely we do not. This is her first and will definitely be the last - but seeing new life is just soooo exciting, and I can’t wait!

American Idol - Top 8 Girls

Filed under: Personal Chatter, American Idol — Leann Pass at 8:03 pm on Tuesday, March 7, 2006

01 - Paris Bennet

She is soooooooooo cute! What an entertainer - a 17 year old ball of fire!

I loved her from the beginning - tonight she looks great and sang better than good. I do think she has more in her though. My ONLY concern is that she may be getting a bit of a cocky attitude, which I do not find attractive.

I think all the judges are a bit hard on her because they know how talented she really is and don’t feel she is doing as well as she can.

————–

02 - Lisa Tucker. FABULOUS! 16 years old and a fantastic singer. Nice. Gorgeous. - I’d say she is in the running for sure. Judges a bit hard I think.

—————-

03 - Melissa McGhee. I just do not like this girl! I thought she looked terrible tonight, I loved the song she sang (because I love Heart) but didn’t like her rendition - at all. I was shocked that Randy and Paula liked her. I agree with Simon - “your plane ticket out”.

—————

04 - Kennick Sky. Can we say OFF - KEY? Terrible. Sorry, just BAD.  (again, I find myself agreeing with Simon - “plane ticket home”. )

————

05 - Katharine McPhee.  Very Cute, and I think she is just sexy enough without over-doing it.  I loved her clothes - great shirt, great jeans! And - she can sing! AWESOME.

————

06 - Ayla Brown. 17 years old. Nice girl - Just not impressed.

—————

07 - Mandisa - “I’m Every Woman”.

I LOVE HER!  She has got it ALL going on - mature, controlled voice, awesome stage presence. She’s had all that from the begining. Mandisa is better than any one of the girls this season, in my opinion.

Sad thing is I don’t see her winning simply because she is a large woman - I hope I am wrong, but I think there is a prejudice against “largeness” - especially in America.

————

08 - Kellie Pickler.  Where’s our little country singer? Why is she singing  Melissa Ethridge? Because she is a “naughty little minx” , says Simon. I agree, “not the best singer” but ya know - she’s got something!

She did great - but me thinks she isn’t nearly as much of a dumb country girl as she portrays - smart marketer, perhaps?

The Vote-Off:

I think it’s between Ayla, Kinnick, and Melissa.

Grape Rip Off

Filed under: Personal Chatter — Leann Pass at 5:36 pm on Saturday, March 4, 2006

The other day when I was in the grocery store buying food for a party I was hosting, I happened upon some grapes. They weren’t on my list, but they were just beautiful so I wanted to add them to the menu. As I was trying to decide between green grapes or black grapes, a nicely dressed woman…

…in her 50’s walked up and stood beside me. No big deal, right? Well, in my peripheral vision, I kept noticing her looking at me, so I looked over and realized she was standing there eating the grapes!

Now, I don’t mean tasting 1 grape - I mean EATING THE GRAPES like she was having an afternoon snack! I was really wierded out by this and finally just asked her, “Are they good”?  (I couldn’t resist!) She looked at me like she was shocked that I said anything to her - I just kept looking at her waiting for her response. Finally she said, “Yes.”

To her surprise, I responded with, “Are they sweet”? Giving me a cockeyed look like she wished I would shut up or die, she replied, “These are, I don’t know about the green ones.” Figuring I had made my point, I just went on browsing through the packages, trying to decide - green or black.

Next thing I know, this nicely dressed middle aged THIEF is stealing grapes from several different packages and adding them to package she had chosen! As I gave her a very disgusted look, she grabbed her package of stolen grapes and took off before I had a chance to say anything.

Fortunately, I found a package that she hadn’t tampered with - and it was a gracious plenty of grapes for the price!

The cost: $1.39 per package.

The question: Why did this apparently well-off woman steal grapes from the grocery store?  What was she thinking? Does she think stealing grapes is not stealing? Did she need twice as many but found herself short 1.39? Is she just a cleptomaniac? Worse - who is she and what does she do? Does she live on my street? Does she work at my bank?

Thanks to her thievery, many honest and unsuspecting shoppers end up with NOT a gracious plenty of grapes like mine, but instead will end up with a package like my son brought home today:

The Grape Rip-Off

(We will be returning this 1/4 full package and having a discussion with the grocery store management about this.)

SAD. STUPID. INFURIATING.

COMPARE:

(above) My untampered package served a crowd.

(above) After the grape thief helped herself, there is 1/4 left for everyone else.

I kinda hope the Grape Thief chokes on her illegally-obtained FRUIT - UGH.

Learning this.

I’m used to using our CMS so Word Press seems quite weird to me.  I am getting it figured it out though, and I am having fun with it!

My first post.

Filed under: Personal Chatter — Leann Pass at 12:41 am on Monday, February 20, 2006

Well, here goes - this is my first go at blogging so I am just hoping it goes well! I think it will - but I know I still have a lot to learn about how blogging really works.  What I really want to do here is just ramble on and on about what I love - which is mostly Internet marketing, SEO (search engine optimization), web design, and anything and everything that effects the success (or lack of success) of businesses on the web. Of course, since I also have a life outside of marketing sites on the Internet which includes my husband, my kids and my pets - From time to time I will be discussing other very important things as well… so you may have to bear with me at times!

After being out here on the web for so long (helping others succeed on the web since 1998!), I have finally decided to just put my thoughts out here on a day-by-day basis and see what happens. Maybe (hopefully) my insight can help someone, maybe (hopefully) I will learn something new as well. Maybe it will just be fun! At any rate, I invite anyone who is interested to join in and converse - please feel free to share your thoughts, share your opinions, or HEY - just give me feedback if you want.
